What a summer for the Kidney Club! Many of our members participated in a nephrology BSD fellowship and the Metcalf program at the University of Chicago where they utilized cutting-edge techniques to explored new areas of investigation in kidney stones and polycystic kidney disease.

They spent their lunch breaks immersed in lectures and talks detailing renal physiology, kidney diseases and potential cures, and the latest in the world of research. Despite their immersion in the world of research, they still understood the importance of patient dynamics.

We were privileged enough to host Mr. Glenn Frommer, a patient activist with ADPKD who has biked thousands of miles across America and raised hundreds of thousands dollars for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) research. Mr. Frommer shared with us his own diagnosis experience and the experience of the countless other PKD patients he met in his travels. For many of our members who are interested in pursuing a healthcare-related career, this was eye-opening. It shed light on the other side of the patient-physician relationship.

If you’re interested in joining the Kidney Club and being a part of these experiences, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
